I'm with Candice. I have the pawn, bishop and king and an iron key. Can't find the Knight, a way to plug the fountain when I pour water into it, or a use for the iron key so far.

Ok, so I've cheated a bit. I can see from the debug mode there is a hole in the wine cellar. Why can't I see it in the game? The debugger has it ticked as visible. I've been suspicious about the lack of stuff to do in the wine cellar since I first visited it.

I've finished the game now. I made the hole visible and available in the debugger. I still couldn't get the fountain to do anything when I'd put all the chess pieces in the tiles. So I used the debugger to go to the tunnel and finished from there. What was I supposed to do with the pieces in the tiles?

I think I'm being a dufus but I can't seem to get into the room behind the keypad in the attic. I'm not sure I have the password yet. I.e., I haven't met anything that says "the password for the attic is...." but I have tried the rat's name, dog's name and various book titles that I've encountered. I'm not even sure I'm using the keypad correctly. I was expecting some kind of dialogue box like the stairs offer. Am I doing it wrong or have I just not found the password yet? the only locations I can't get into right now are the pool, master bedroom and this place in the attic.

Another 5/5 from me. Played thru to both endings. Lost count of how many times I realised I'd left the GPT 10 rooms back again. Ha ha. Back in the mid-80s I'd have been glad to have paid £15 for a game this good.

D'oh. You know I tried taking the telescope back out of the statue and it wouldn't let me. Soooo close. I shall go back and do it properly now. Thanks CJ. It's a cracking game notwithstanding my idiocy!

Aha, I've found the password. Amusingly it was one of the 30 odd words I'd tried but I can see now you can't use it until you have actually found it and then it works automatically without me typing it in.

That was just challenging enough. Took me ages to realise that losing the coupon was meant to happen to trigger P. Knutt offering me work to progress the game. Ran around for ages holding the coupon trying to find another way to buy the cat food. Once I surrendered the coupon things took off. Great ending too. Teased me right in to d/l Magic Harp.

I could do with a hint. I must be dangerously close to finishing it but I'm stuck. I'm in the barn having rescued the "magic harp" but the followers have me trapped. I can't seem to do anything with them, the priest, the mule or the press to escape. A gentle push in the right direction would be lovely.

I also found the battery/camera problem others have mentioned. Spent ages trying to get into Edisons place for the battery and then realised the battery was already in the camera despite the description saying it wasn't.

Not to worry. I had a word with the magic harp and all is well. I wasn't expecting the carnivora nuns!!!!

Review of Sir Loin 3: The Quest for the Holy Quail

I'd already won the game with the happy ending and 3 trophies(BK E SS) but I was stuck finding the remaining trophies, particularly the exorcism.

I'd read the old book with the exorcism details and I'd tried using the salt and holy water on the grave and get the "you can't do that yet" responses. Tried it before and after giving the skull to the ghost. Such an easy solution in the end. And that trophy leads to the final trophy.

I thought the combination puzzle for the inner sanctum was particularly amusing.

That's the Shiversword and Loin games all played in the last couple of weeks. I'm an addict. Great games.

James, the key is to fix something that is broken.

It's enough to make you a basket case isn't it. don't hang yourself though. You're nearly there.

No problem James. Glad you liked the clue. It seemed more fun than just telling you.

If you read up higher I had missed the password on the shutter which is virtually in the first room you go in. Spent ages going round and round before I found it.

Get yourself onto Mansion II when you finish this one. It's even better.

I think there is a chemical mix that works on the paper. I think if you examine the paper it offers a clue. I skipped it the first time and finished without bringing the corporation down but I went back and did it on a second go.

It's the smelly mix. I think this is the only one you haven't successfully used for anything else yet.

Sue - have you got the marriage certificate signed by both bride and groom yet? If so then you need to sneak it back into the pile so Cyril will stamp it.

The grinder is used later on something else.

and you'll also need the broken glass.

I can't remember exactly how I did it now. The only save I have is right after I have picked up the stamped certificate. Have you tried x out tray while Cyril is tidying up his papers?

Review of The Lazst Resort, Part 1

That was pretty entertaining. I managed to get 120 out of 125 upon completion. I wonder what I missed? Wasn't sure about solving Clue 3. I ended up using an internet translator which got me close enough to realise what the message said. Was there an easier way in the game to solve this?

I was flummoxed by the ball room light switch as well. I found it by accident by "turning on light" even though I had no idea there was a switch. Is there a trick to finding the switch first?
