The author of this game has now produced a map which should enable you to get past the Halluctination Forest. You can view the map here.

Normally from now on I'll turn anybody's review of their own game into a comment, but if you're going to tell people NOT to play your own game... :)

Ed Burns has submitted an updated version of this game.
He writes:
"This is not a diffrent game. I just killed the typos, got rid of un-important Smigs, and added a way to win."

It seems this game requires MOVECONT.LIB which is not included with Quest by default. I have now updated this game's ZIP file to include this missing file, so you should now be able to play it.
If you're using Quest 3.5 Beta, please extract the files before opening OSCAR.ASL. If you try to open the ZIP file directly Quest will not be able to find the library - this is an issue that will be addressed in future.
Review of Uncle's Mansion

To improve this game you should:
- check your spelling. In the very first room it says "You can go out to spiral starirs".
- as with your other game, "Locked Up", provide descriptions for objects. Most of the objects in this game are nothing but names. They don't do anything whatsoever and add nothing to the gameplay.
- your description in your mis-spelled "spiral starirs" rooms is "Do you want to go up the stairs?". This implies the player can type "yes" or "no" - but they can't. Put yourself in the player's shoes, and think about what they are expecting to happen at each point in your game.

Review of the missing dog
09 Aug 2003
To improve this game:
- check your spelling and punctuation. The first thing the player sees is "when you were walking you saw a poster wrate on it a missing dog 100000 dollars will be given to who find the missing dog then slowly an idea has flawn in to your head if you found the dog you will be rich and then you can live happy life and you can send your sisiter to school and fulfill all your dreams!"
This gives an appalling first impression, and most people will probably quit the game immediately.
- provide better descriptions for objects and set them up correctly. For example, the description of the "mum" character is "nice mum". This tells the player nothing. Also you haven't set up the gender, so if the player tries to "take mum" they see "You can't take it". You should set the "mum" object to have a gender of "her" so that this text appears properly.

Review of LockedUP!!

To improve this game you should:
- use prefixes so room descriptions display properly. "You are in main hall. There is sword, machine gun and oil here" is not proper English and it's the first thing the player sees. This gives a very poor initial impression. Try giving the main hall a prefix of "the" and the objects prefixes of "a" or "some" to make the descriptions read properly.
- give your objects descriptions. Players expect to be able to type "look at sword" etc. to find out more about objects.
- some of the objects are a little peculiar. Why is there a machine gun in the room you have been locked in? Why does dropping the sword after I have picked it up move me to the basement?

Start Quest, click Options, go to Other, then click "Restore File Associations". Click OK. You should then be able to launch the game.

Oh for god's sake... I am the guy who is running the site and allowing you to have your game available for download here. I wrote Quest, created this website, and I make and enforce the rules about who can post what on here. And I don't allow people to rate their own games - or "their friends using the same computer as the author". Right...

It seems to be a bug in the latest version of Quest. I'll take a look into it...

It looks black on black on my machine - but you can see the text if you go to Quest, Options, Display, Colours, "Don't allow games to change foreground and background colours".
Something that the author should fix though!

Andrew, I really don't think you're in a position to criticise spelling - just look at your own comments!

Note that this doesn't seem to work with the "Play online" feature at the moment.
Also as it's quite a long game I would advise people to download it to play offline using Quest - so you'll be able to save your progress as you go along.

I've updated the download to a ZIP file which includes the images and sounds you uploaded separately, so please let me know if this works.
In future you can just upload a ZIP containing your CAS and any images and sounds required. Please don't upload ZIP files that don't contain Quest games as this flags up an error and they'll get deleted.
