Nice design of game, but I find the whole thing about having to 'guess the verb' to be the problem with these games. It would make the games a lot better to have a definitive list of all commands that can be used in the game at the start, so the challenge is about puzzle solving and not some luck in choosing the right verb.

I played this game yesterday only knowing the commands "look at" and "take". Having found out "examine" is an important command I was able to progress. So far the only bedroom I haven't opened is number 4 and I have a whole load of items but not sure what to do next. (Gold flute, empty bottle, post-it note, glasses, gunpowder book, science book, spider book, stone shield, video tape (watched), ivory horn, ebony horn, cloth, limescale remover, pot of gunpowder, red herring). For example, I don't know how do take the dining room painting and replace it with something else to stop the shutters coming down.
Nicely made game and pretty difficult. It should explain at the outset all the commands - i.e. look at, take, drop, and examine - it was only through reading reviews I found out examine was a command and without this I couldn't have progressed.
Again, really cool game!
