Review for First Times

A whisper in the grass, a softly simmering pot of stew, a hiss of boil in the waters of a hot spring, much ado about the ever so slightly wavering signs. Subtle, yes, but enormously significant, significant, one might say, beyond measure. For that was the true catch; the measure of the things; not so easily lumped in with the weights of pounds or the lengths of meters, no something you can’t simply see.

Something that’s felt. Something deep, thick, past the shallow skins of meaning, beyond the safety of reason, down into the very marrow of being. Something heard in the whispers of the river currents under a bridge and the song of the ravens on a cold, dead night. The voice that speaks out to you in your dreams, ever so softly, ever so delicately, yet ever unyieding. The only word, the one word.

Fear.
