Rainbow room by Wheelnut

You wake up in a strange room, you have no idea where you are, or how you got there.

What you do know is: You have to get out of here!

''Rainbow room'' is my first game upload, and not too bad of an attempt, if I do say so myself...
It's not too long, or too difficult, but there are four different endings! (And you can't die, so don't worry)

Have fun figuring out how to get out!

Not bad - I managed to escape with the following ending

"You get the heck out of the building, and you try to remember the adress before you run off to find the nearest police station.

When you get there, it turns out they were notified of your call, and a search has been set up already.

The diary you took provides plenty of evidence against Cindy, and plenty to put Rob in witness protection.

Everyone thanks you for your bravery and quick thinking,
you've gotten a sociopath commited, and saved a promising athlete's life!"

Couple of spelling mistakes, but I can forgive them. Plenty (too many?) red herrings - I was expecting to have to build something out of the bits I got.

Love the item descriptions and the sarcasm.

Take a look at my inventory ;) (nice touch)

You are carrying:
A small key, a lingerie catalog, a fuse, a frying pan, a spoon, a fork, a knife, a spatula, a hacksaw, a roll of tape, a screwdriver, an empty box, a diary, a Ballerina outfit (worn), a pen and a tube of toothpaste.

For the fuse under the couch:
You need to simply use an item.

If the door's unlocked, simply go east, or press the east arrow button.
The door does not open when you have too many switches on.
Like you would any unlocked door.

I really really liked this game. Too bad I got stuck at the part with the fuse under the couch. I don't know which command to use to take it, but I liked the game anyways.

It's a good game, but I'm having trouble reaching the fuse under the couch. Am I supposed to put two things together, or am I not writing the correct command?
Also, my items consist of :small key, lingerie catalogue, frying pan, spoon, fork, knife, spatula, hacksaw, roll of tape, screwdriver, empty box, diary, ballerina outfit, pen.
Thanks!

Also, the use (item) with (item) has been fixed...

Actually, that should open it. Have you tried going through the door as you would any other door?
It won't open if you flip too many switches though, and the order you press them in doesn't matter.

And miranda: You're missing two vital items.
Try looking AND examining where one would sit or sleep...

Nope can't open the door. Tried switches in different orders. Assuming the inital letters of colours spell out Rob's name but can't figure this one out.

Any clues?

ah....I get it.

You need to examine everything as well as look at!

Sorted

I've done everything I can think of doing, have pretty much the same as Miranda and have also tried to use them, look under things, etc.

Can someone help before I give up please?

also, power is off. i'm assuming the fusebox is empty? so flipping switches on the doors do nothing.

i'm stumped. i've gone through all rooms, look in and under everything, tried turning things on, flipping switches... etc, but am 'stuck'. here is my inventory: catalog, frying pan, spoon, fork, spatula, knife, ballerina outfit, roll of tape, empty box, pen, hacksaw, and screwdriver.

i've tried using these items as well, to no avail. multiple visits to rooms to use things and look under things have proven unhelpful, too. a little hint?

Stuck in what way? Have you gotten the switches working? Or is the power still cut?

A good game. Kinda short. I like the story line and descriptions and how the story unfolds. The use item on item thing gets ruined as do other preset editor commands if you defined the command anywhere as a verb. For example if on one object you put use as a verb and then type some message when they use it.
I had the same problem with take or get when I first started using the editor.
To get around it you can do 2 things
1. Set up a command instead of putting in a verb in the object set up screen.
example command 'take #@thing#' puts the object in a string variable.
Then you can set up a case script or an if.
if #thing#='bucket' then do some script
else
execute a command as if it were typed in by the player
(click on the built-in quest comman box)
or
2. Don't add the verb into the first object screen.
use the optional set up screen instead.
in the case of 'use thing'.
its under things that items can be used on. under use item by itself.

Okay, I'll assume you're playing online, and you can't see what the diary says.

Here's what's on the pages:
-Page 1: The diary is Cindy's
-Page 2: Cindy meets boy, thinks he's her boyfriend
-Page 3: Cindy meets boy again, boy doesn't remember Cindy, Cindy doesn't believe it.
-Page 4: Cindy ''sees'' boy again, boy tells her to stop following him, Cindy still persists.
-Page 5: Scribbles and doodles, variations on the drawing on the front cover of the diary.
-Page 6: K.I.S.S.I.N.G. rhyme, with Cindy's and the boy's name filled in.
-Page 7: Variations on what Cindy's name would be if her and the boy got married. Not spelled out.
-Page 8: Cindy goes to boy's college, sees him flirting with a cheerleader, Cindy gets mad.
-Page 9: Newspaper article, ''cheerleader found dead, culprit still at large.'' Page is smudged with reddish brown fingerprints.
-Page 10: Police came to Cindy's house, she didn't tell them anything. Cindy installed door with color code.
-Page 11: Cindy's door keeps shorting out, bought cheap fuses, box came apart, one fuse rolled under couch, boy got restraining order against Cindy, Cindy plans to abduct someone at the mall to practice.
(If you want the full effect of the story; download)

You need to read the last page to be able to find the fuse that rolled UNDER the COUCH. Or else you can't LOOK there...

I can't tell how far you've progressed at the moment.
What items do you have right now?
Are you playing online or offline?

I'm enjoying this, but I'm completely stuck- been in all the rooms, opened all the drawers, pick up and tried to use everything I can in every room, but can't seem to get any further? Any hints? I'm assuming I'm missing something pretty obvious, but I thought I'd ask anyway :)

This is my first real, properly working game (sort of), so be gentle?

I know it's not too long, or too difficult, but I have managed to make it have four different endings, and a lot of excess bullshit, so have fun trying to figure it all out!

(Try bodily functions, or dancing, for instance)

IMPORTANT DEVELOPER NOTE:
-Nearing completion of the game, the ''Use *item* with *item* commands did not work any longer, so I had to work around that.
-The result of that fix is that, in order to use an object on another, you just have to type ''use'', followed by the item you're using. (example: ''use non-existent object'') Of course, you'd have to be in the room with the object you're using it on...
