Hi Tim I'm really enjoying the game. I managed to get past the first creature at the door and have been caught by the tentacle. The only problem I've found is when I tried loading a previously saved game it wouldn't let me. I'm going to restart but it is a pain. Well done on the game though! I'll save proper judgement until I've finished or got really stuck!

Um I'm stuck again! I have three fuses but can't find the fourth. I have the new,dusty and old fuse. Help would be appreciated. Thanks :-)

You are missing the wet fuse. You need to open the hatch(use hammer). then use the flashlight on it. get rid of the black mass. then there will be water running into the valve in the water station. Open the valve there.

Fire extinguisher. BTW did you download the game and then save it to the computer. For some reason it's the only way to seem to get quest to save and load games properly.

ok I'm at the behind the refinary area I got 3 fuses, and opened the hatch and got rid of the mass but it washed the 4th fuse away I'm guessing and can't figure out what to do now

The 4th fuse wet down the pipe. Open the valve in the pump house.

Go in the smelter store room and examine the shelves twice(if you haven't already). Then type in 'find boots'. With the work boots you can go to the water tank on top of the building. Examine the body there.

How do I cut the chain in the spider place? I lost the chainsaw with the octopus

You couldn't reach it with the chainsaw anyhow. You need to shoot it but the spider needs to be in the right position and the ladle needs to also and the spider needs to be distracted, This is probably the most challenging boss it the game.

You can't. But You do have a radio. When you are in the room with the spider. Don't go to the center right away. stay to the perimeter. When the spider gets one step away from you, use the flashlight on it. then move one more step away. Then use the radio to contact neva.

ok I was able to move the ladle south, the spider was in the west part of the room, I shot the chain and I still died!

There is too much equipment in the way. You need to get the ladle and spider both in the center of the room. Then use the flashlight on the spider to distract it. Then shoot the chain.

You can't get through that door thats the other entrance to the smelter control room. If you speak to the workers in the control room you should be able to ask for a key for the gun rack.

After you have gotten rid of the the clown you should find a door handle in the benches.

How do I open the door to the parking lot? I have the electronic key but cant use it on it. I'm stuck as to where to go.

The door to the parking lot you can't open. Besides what kind of horror game would it be if you could just get in your car and leave.
Gamer I think you may have found a glitch. If you search all the things in the room and find the button THEN die before you press it and try again. AND after you retry you press the button before using the blower on the animals then the wrench won't appear.

Ummm I'm stuck again. I can't figure out how to defeat the clown. I can use the leaf blower to move the balloons and I can shine the torch in clowns face but thats it. Some help would really be appreciated!

Heidi, When you leaf blow the animals the shine the light on the clown examine one of the things in the room ie benches. There should be five. On the last one you should find the button for fire control. press ie. if the clown appears leaf blow the balloons and use torch on him then press button.
PS if you die before you press the button and try again, leaf blow the balloons before pressing the button.

Did you use the floor jack on it? After you use the floor jack on it you should just be able to go north from the courtyard.

What does it say when you look at the access door?
I've tried everything I can think of, including using the jack on the door, then saving and loading back in. It works perfectly every time.

You can get back in the security building there is a door if you look at it you will see a key pad use the electronic key on the keypad then open the door.
If you use the forklift to go east down the back road then there is no going back from there.

ok so i put the flash drive in the lap top in the lab office and it tells me that i can read the file by looking at the lap top, but when i look at the lap top it just tells me that it's turned on

Hmmm. That's weird. Try taking the flash drive and then use it on the lap top.

You plug the flash drive into the lap top. You open up the file that is on the flash drive. You can read the file by looking at the laptop.

I can't get it to replicate. But here is what the e-mail says.
I figured I would post it here anyhow because reading the e-mail is not needed till the end of the game and someone might miss it and have to start over.

The screen displays a few mysterious emails from 'scourge' to 'falcon'...
July 2cnd
"I have completed the research and am convinced this will work. More tests will be done over the next week... Will be in touch."

July 11th
"Everything works but if we don't find away to control the things that are created then all is useless. The fear mixes well and creates random things depending on the subjects' fears. The randomness however is not important. Only the control."

July 22cnd
"Got it! I have a way to control them now. What is created is still random but we should now be able to do more testing as the danger of uncontrolled creations has passed. Still have a problem with sunlight however. The things created are just so light sensitive."

July 31st
"No way to get around the light problem however I have a solution. The chemical used in the creation proccess also produces a thick mist which is heavy. If we up the output we could, with enough chemical, create an atmosphere for them to thrive in. Going to go on to final planning. Meet me in the lab password is "pine fresh".

Ok something's horribly wrong with my quest I think. I lowered the chain in refinery main floor but it still says when I look at the chain it's to high to reach. I look at the lever in the control room and it says it's lowered.

Did you notice it said there was a figure in the control room when you entered the main floor? After you lower the chain, when you leave the control room, lock the door.

If you left drag the extinguisher over the creature using the panes it will do it quickly otherwise you can type either
'use extinguisher on creature'
of
'spray creature' will work too.

You must have accidentally used a blast from the extinguisher on something else.
you need the extinguisher.

How is that possible?
As soon as you enter where the spider is neva becomes unavailable.
Try the try again feature.
When you get in there use the radio.

Sorry hadn,t noticed she hadn,t followed me.However I have got the ladle and the spider both in the centre blinded the spider and shot the chain and it still says the ladle hits some equipment.Thanks for your help Tim

Whew, thought I had a big glitch there. Are you SURE the ladel is in the center?
Neva doesn't really pay attention that well or something, because when you tell her to move the ladle south she moves it north. And when you tell her to move it east it moves west. (you will find out why later)

Sorry Tim I must be doing something really stupid but I have tried umpteen times now and even with the ladle and the spider being in the centre and blinding the spider sfter I shoot the chain it still says it hits some equipment.It definately says the ladle is in the centre.Could there be a problem with this download?

Idk that is strange. You are using the flashlight on the spider when he is in the middle, right before you shoot correct?
Right after you enter use radio. n.use flashlight on spider.n.use radio,move ladle north.w.use flashlight on spider.w.use radio,move ladle west.s.s.use flashlight on spider.ne.e.use flashlight on spider.use rifle on chain

If you got past the slag monster then you must use the chainsaw on the wooden posts. If not then you must open the valve in the water control station.

Sorry Tim but I followed your instructions and it still wouldn,t work so I reloaded a new game and it worked that time.However I seem to have hit a snag with the work shed .The tiny key worked on it the first time but when I reloaded a saved game it came up with two worksheds one an object the other a place and the key won,t work on either.Any ideas please?

There must be some kind of saving and loading problem with quest or something.
I will look at the code but if the slag monster is petrified then the exit is scripted to bring you to the east smelter courtyard.
The workshed should be opened by using the bolt cutters on it.

The east exit from the slag monster is a simple locked exit it should either let you by or tell you the slag monster would rip you limb from limb.

I'm stuck with the keys - I have the magnet etc, but once the keys disappear into the tree I can't find them despite climbing the tree.

Ahh one of my favorite commands sue and matt. Shake branches.
Ps. There is definitely a glitch where quest doesn't fully save the status of your exits upon a save. That is why the work shed exit shows up after you save and restore, when it shouldn't.

How do I get past the first creature outside the door. I've tried the fire extinguisher like a previous post said but it just keeps saying "You can't use that here" I use the words use, hit with, spray with, pull pin on. I'm probably missing a really obvious key word but any help would be great.

You can use the side panel and left drag the extinguisher onto the creature or type 'use extinguisher on creature' or 'spray creature'

Did you make the bomb? Tape the large fire extinguisher to the gas can(full of gas) and throw it at the blob. Then shoot it.

First thing, this game is awesome. Congrats and such a wonderful game! =D

Second, I need help... I'm stuck at the nickel building. I have the following: Hand radio, flashlight, electronic key, fire extinguisher, soap, gauze, aspirin, legs, door opener. I dropped the Skid Steer here. I saw it had a wrench while it was in my inventory, which I was not able to retrieve, and now I'm not able to take the Skid Steer either. I don't know what else to do... please help.......

Type 'enter fork lift' then you will be in it. Then just type the direction you want to go. schala, i think you might be getting the forklift mixed up with the skid steer. the skid steer is untakable, it should be back in the west security courtyard.

The key is in the hose. If you attach the hose to the machine then pick up the end of the hose you will surivive when you cross the ladder.

This was a really great game. I needed some assistance from some of the hints on this page, but in general the puzzles were challenging but intuitive. I was also surprised by some twists I didn't see coming. Do-overs were a great addition (except when you were in an already unwinnable place!) Genuinely creepy at points. Really fun and I'm sorry it's over :) Thanks!

I think the end puzzle is unfair. I wore the safety glasses and gaven eva her glasses but saved and now can't get her glasses back and get killed at the end.

No, they worked perfectly. My friend and I played the game, helping each other, and loved it... I was hooked, I was having dreams about the game!

You were so knowledgeable, the sound affects were only used when needed, nothing was over done. The footnotes were hilarious!

And then... the credits. It makes it SO real, where for a second I wondered if it was fake just used so that it would seem like they were added to give the impression that the main character made the game to tell the story without upsetting the MIB's.

examine or search the tank and you will find a valve. Use the wrench on it or turn it if you have the wrench. The wrench is in the skid steer. Examine or search it.

is the lab the building you started in?

Or is it the building with the forklift?

You need the wrench. Examine or search the skid steer near the gypsum pile.
Examine the tank and you will find the valve. Use the wrench on it.
Ps examine everything.

I really like this game and I'd love to play more of it but right now, I'm stuck at the beginnning with the door and the scratching behind it. Whenever I open the door I die from the creature since I can't figure out how to kill it. I did try "kill creature" but it says you can't kill it. After I had died five times, I actually got a laugh out of that one :) Anyway, can I get some help. I really want to play the rest of the game through, but I just can't get past the scratching door creature.

Doh...stuck again rather quickly! I have read the laptop messages but cannot get any further into the lab (door jammed), driven the fork lift around and found nothing to do with it and generally wandered aimlessly electricuting myself on fences. Where can I go now?

You need to right the forklift east along the back road. The Back road is to the northeast of gypsum pile or north of the central courtyard. You will need to have the forks raised once in order to survive.

You need the keys in the courtyard. search the shelves in the smelter storeroom and you will come up with duct tape. Then type find magnet. tape the magnet to the handle.

The first building? The security building. If you examine the door you will notice a keypad on it. Use the electronic key on it and the door will unlock. Open the door. It's awhile but you do have a limited amount of time then the door will lock again

If your fire extinguisher is empty before you start then unfortunately you will need to start again.
To kill the bear you need to blast it twice when it reaches for you and then use the flashlight on it when it puts its head in. After that raise the lever.

Yes, you need to get the ladle and spider in the center then use the flashlight on the spider. Then shoot the chain.
Make sure the ladle is in the center. Neva is going to move the ladle in the opposite direction of what you tell her to.

You shouldn't if the ladle is in the middle. With the ladle and the spider in the middle use the flashlight on the spider then shoot the chain. If this still doesn't work then you may have the same problem someone else did. The ladle was reading falslely that it was in the middle for them and they had to start from before they went into the room. I don't know why this is. It has worked properly for me and everyone else but for them there was a glitch.

You need to climb the chain. From the refinery control room lower the chain. Lock the door to the control room after you exit it. Then go down to the blob room. climb the chain, throw the makshift bomb at the blob then shoot it.

Hi, I'm new here :D. Really enjoying these text adventures, I've never done one before, but I need to ask a question.
I have killed the first creature and left the Security building. I am stuck in the Security courtyards. I have the wrench from beside the Skid Steer and I have killed the Vine in the Gypsum Pile. I also have the Door Opener. I have the Fire Extinguisher but there isn't very much left. I also have Asprin and Gauze, the Hand Radio, and Soap.

I can't get into the lab, because of the mist, and it is said there is no door there anyway. I can't figure out how to get into the Nickel Building, if there is a way. I can't get back into the Security Building. I can't go down the Back Road because your character wets himself and turns back. The only solution I can think of is to drive the Skid Steer down the Back Road, as the game says you should not go down there, at least not on foot. But I simply can not find a way to flip it. Any suggestions? Is this a weird glitch, or do I just have to restart the game?

There should be a door to the nickel building examine it. There should be a keypad use the electronic key on it and open the door. But you will need to get into the lab first. If you have the wrench when the moths attack examine the argon tank.
You will know what to do next. When in the lab office examine or search the desk.
Sarah, you need to get the ladder up there. use it on the gap.

You need the 4 working fuses. Put them in the fuse box then hit the reset button. The wet fuse in where the fuse box is use the wrench on the valve there after you have gotten rid of the black mass.
Sarah, you can only carry either the ladder or the hose not both. You will need to do some manuevering to get everything in place.

The password to the door was in the series of e-mails on the flash drive. To save you from starting over in case you didn't read it. It's "pine fresh".
The forklift and the alarm panel you can just examine or search. The work truck is in vehicle maintence area. Go southeast from the back of the refinery.

You need to have the hammer. It has been an exhausting night and he is to fast for you to catch him. If you use the try again feature i'm not sure where that will put you. But if you can go back and get the hammer. If you can't then you will have to start over =(.

The try again feature brought me back to the hammer luckily! But the bad thing was that I threw it at him and it didn't work. I really did try. Blast him with the fire extinguisher twice, one time for each paw. I think you need to use the flashlight after, but I'm not sure. Anyways, if the flashlight is not necessary, raise the lever. It's head will get stuck.

Alright, I'm probably just too stupid to see the obvious. I really, really enjoy this game. At first I was stuck last night at the first evil encounter. I knew the fire extinguisher would be the solution but it never worked. That was, because I only typed in "Use fire extinguisher" and not "User fire extinguisher on creature". Well I'm new to this kinds of games, so excuse that fail of mine.

My actual problem now is, that I can't find the key for the fork lift. I searched everywhere, killed the vine, found the remote opener for the cargo door and the wrench, but I don't know, where the fork lift key is supposed to be. Please help me with this one!

Yeah, I thought so too and of course I already tried that a thousand times. But if I type in "use flashlight" it just says "You can't use that here."
and if I want to go into the mist to try it out there again it says "The mist gets thicker the closer you get to the lab and the floodlights there are not on. There is no way your going anywhere in the dark now!" and I get kicked back to the place, where I can't use the flashlight. So what?

Btw, I also tried things like "Use flashlight on mist" or "switch on flashlight"... doesn't work either.

Ok, so I beat the Gypsum pile vine took the remote, and found the cargo door and forklift and stuff. I can't seem to be able to walk through the cargo door, I tried "go to cargo door", "walk through cargo door" ect without success. I used the remote to open the Door and tried the forklift, but I can't find a key, another problem is the Moth swarm, when I'm in the screened cage there's the argon tank, but I can't use it. I tried various different commands, my intention is to use it on the Moth swarm but so far nothing. Help?

Ok I found out how to beat the moth swarm. but I'm still having problems with the laptop and the cargo door. I got to the bear an reduced it's claws to nothing but can't get rid of him. I shined the flashlight the first time at him he backed up, the second time he got irretated and the third time he managed to kill me. How do I beat it??

If you turn on the leaf blower you can use it on the balloon animals he makes. Use the flashlight on him when he gets too close. In between search the other objects in the room until you find the red button.
The leaf blower is in the work shed. You need the bolt cutters to get in.
Trent tape the magnet to the mop handle.
The mop handle is in the cleaning closet in the refinery. You need to find a jack to into it.

I managed to reach the roof,there's the fire system and the gap, I placed the ladder on the hooks, is that correct for a move? I don't know what to do after that. I tried searching for a fire alarm without any luck. Help?

You need to get the ladder and the hose up onto the roof. attach the hose to the fire system. Use the ladder on the gap. then take the end of the hose and go across the gap.

Hi, awesome game. But im stuck at the first monster. When i open the door it tells me: You cautiously open the door. You jump back suddenly and your heart begins to race as you see a clawed hand wrap itself around the edge of the open door! And then when i try t otype in any commands they disappear and nothing happens and my game is ruined. Cn you please help? :) i really love the story btw :)

I'm playing this on an android MID tablet right now and there are a few issues with the menus and using Items in your inventory. You press on it and the standard list of instructions 'look at', 'speak to' and 'take' appear for a second but then the menu will unexpectedly close and leave a grey and black hashed screen. It seems the windows will only stay open for a spilt second. This will then freeze your main game screen and you will be unable to continue until you somehow remove the item menu. Is this a coding issue or can I fix this?

Hi tim, I am new to text adventures in general, having been turned on to them by black ops, and i have a problem.
I get everything i can but cannot get past the door with the first monster scratchin behind it. I tried finding a side panel and tried spraying the door with the extinguisher but whenever I open it, It says my heart races and I can not type or do anything afterwords. it is frustrating because then I have to start over. HWExtreme - examine the feet and you will be grabbed by a vine. Assuming you picked up the soap in the female bathroom inside the security building, use the soap on the vine and grab the fire extinguisher. it easy from there ^_^ hope that helps haha

I used the Soap on the Gypsum pile and grabbed the fire extinguisher and used it on the gypsum pile and it said it didn't work so I used it on the vine and I died. what do I do!
